Landscape Park

Master plan | Development study
The project is planned for the 80-hectare large Mangalsala peninsula at the mouth of the Daugava River issuing into the Baltic Sea, about 20 km from the city center of Riga, the capital of Latvia. Planning of a landscape park for approx. 2.000 residents in single studios built on platforms above the cropped area in a light pine forest. Cultural and commercial facilities are the only urban elements, forming a fanned center.
Invited international workshop for architects & urban planners, 2007

Projekt: Architectural office – Volker Giencke with Colin Fournier

The planning goal was to preserve the natural beauty of the location and to create a small-town flair in which only sustainable architecture touches the ground and incorporates nature.
